Description
Hopi Native American Kachina Doll, Kachina Dolls are figures carved by the Hopi people to teach young girls and new brides about Kachina (also spelled Katsina), immortal beings that control the natural world and act as messengers between the human and spirit world. They are typically carved from cottonwood root, and still made and used today in the Hopi community, and some are carved specifically to be sold as artworks for the public. This Kachina doll is carved from wood, adorned with real animal fur, and hand painted. There is some damage to where the figure rests on the base that would need to be repaired.
